How does the University Village plan to protect residents?
The health and safety of our residents is our top priority. This Fall, the University Village will implement the following safety guidelines and procedures in our community:
- Face coverings and/or masks that cover the nose and mouth will be required in all interior public spaces and outside when social distancing cannot be maintained.
- Custodial services will continue rigorous sanitation processes to clean and sanitize public spaces and other high traffic touchpoints.
- Hand sanitizer will be available in the Community and Recreation Centers.
- Community Standards will be updated to address social distancing and safe practices.
Can I have guests over?
Non-resident guests are prohibited until further notice. This includes residents of other University Village apartments and family members. Only visitors assisting residents with moving their belongings in/out of the University Village or transferring to a new apartment will be allowed. As you prepare to move-in, you will be allowed to have a maximum of two visitors to assist with your move-in.
Can I come and go off-campus without restrictions?
Yes, residents may come and go as they please. We understand that students have jobs, study-groups or other engagements that may require them to have the liberty to come and go as needed. However, we encourage you to practice the safety guidelines that the California Public Health Department advises as part of being a responsible community member.
Do I have to follow social distancing?
Yes, everyone on campus is expected to maintain a distance of six feet from each other at all times.
Can another Village resident visit me in my room?
Residents cannot visit apartments in which they are not assigned until further notice.
What happens if I violate one of the University Village Community Standards?
Students who do not follow University Village Community Standards may result in a Conduct Review meeting with the Assistant Director for Community Standards and Wellness and can result in sanctions/resolutions and possible eviction.
Do I have to wear a mask/face covering if I leave my apartment?
Yes, everyone must wear a mask/face-covering in all public spaces on-campus. Per the current state guidelines, residents are expected to wear a mask or face covering when leaving their apartment for any reason, including accessing any public services at the University Village. Residents that enter the Community Center, the Recreation Center or the Computer Lab for any reason are required to wear a mask or face covering. When in an outdoor space, face coverings may be removed only if the individual maintains physical distancing of at least six feet.
What if my roommate is not following social distancing policies?
If you believe your roommate is not following social distancing within the University Village apartments, please contact the University Village Front Office at 909-869-4242 during business hours or the Resident Advisor on duty at 909-762-8286 after hours and on weekends. Residents are expected to follow the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, as well as the University Village Community Standards while living on the property.
How will University Village follow social distancing protocols after move-in?
Everyone on campus is expected to wear face coverings in public spaces and maintain a distance of at least six feet from others. The university has taken active steps to proactively set up conditions, wherever possible, in the residential, dining, and academic settings to facilitate maintaining a social distance of six feet.
